Dinner at The Salt Lick

The Salt Lick, Driftwood Texas, August 21, 2010

The boys in Texas (Ambiente, our distributor in TX) took me on a ride to go to see what is most certainly a cultural icon in Texas and in the world of BBQ... after a 45 minute drive we arrive in Driftwood, Texas, the home of The Salt Lick. This place is BYOB so we arrive with our own cooler containing among other things a case of Lone Star, a case of PBR, bottles of Cider, Gruner and Lambrusco. This place is crazy; off duty sherifs (packing heat) directing traffic and people with their coolers on wheels. The place is huge, so are the portions. The BBQ is Texas style and quite tasty from the brisquet to the sausages. Then we get to the meat of it (excuse the pun). What is the perfect beverage with Texas Brisket? The group splits into two parties; the pro cider people and the pro Lambrusco people and the verdict is.... all good with BBQ at The Salt Lick!
